Opening up
Senate House to our community
As part of our strategy, the University has been working hard to make our physical spaces more accessible and welcoming to students from across the Federation, as well as staff, alumni and visitors. Last October saw the opening of two exciting new social and study spaces at Senate House.
The lower ground floor of the building has become BLOOM@Senate House, a central London base where students can come to study, eat, and socialise. It features study spots, the use of Deller Hall Café, and relaxing lounges in a location convenient to Senate House Library.
Outside, Malet Street car park has been transformed by the installation of the Steps@Senate House. The architecturally designed structure provides seating and dual entertainment spaces, allowing for performances to take place at the base of or underneath the steps. The space also features wildflower gardens and Art Deco inspired landscaping, in keeping with the architecture of Senate House.
These new spaces form part of the initial phase of the ‘Massive Small Changes’ programme, which is transforming access to Senate House by creating inspiring new entrances that double as attractive social areas.
Please do come and visit if you get the chance.
